This post mortem photo was pointed out to me by a sharp-eyed reader who had found it on a Norwegian media site. Unfortunately when I translated the accompanying text, it simply said ‘dead boy with flowers’.
As we’ve discussed before on the Skull, the vast amount of flowers shown in many vintage post mortem / memento mori photographs owe less to decoration and more to keeping down the odour levels caused by having a dead body hanging around in the days before readily available refrigerated storage…
